Cathleen McCarron trained as a voice coach at the Central School of Speech and Drama. She currently teaches voice at Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance and is Coordinator of the International Centre for Voice, based at CSSD, as well as coaching performers and business people privately. She has also taught at East 15 Acting School and the City Lit.
Cathleen trained as an actress at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and spent ten years working in theatre, film, television and radio. She continues to be in demand as a voiceover artist and has extensive experience of recording audiobooks, commercials, English language teaching tapes, post-production film dialogue and iPhone app narration. Cathleen is also a professional storyteller, working with the oral tradition, and has developed events and workshops in the education and heritage sectors, as well as performing at storytelling clubs and festivals.
Cathleen specialises in developing the quality and clarity of the voice and in communication and presentation skills training, often drawing on techniques used in actor training and in storytelling. She can also offer specific storytelling sessions in a one-to-one or group context. Cathleen also specialises in breath work and has a particular interest in voice training for asthmatics.
